FLOOD NOTICE:

State of Local Emergency - at 9:30 am April 22, 2019 the RM of Montcalm issued a State of Local Emergency due to flood waters. 

There are numerous road closures throughout the municipality so please use caution when traveling. 

There will be evacuation order given to some residents on St Mary's Road, those affected will be contacted directly by RM staff or council. 

The RM office is closed today but if you have an emergency please call CAO Jolene Bird at 1-204-990-4301.

FLOOD INFORMATION 

 

  • ·       Manitoba Infrastructure (MI) is beginning work this week at the St. Jean Borrow Pit to prepare for dike closures – PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF HEAVY EQUIPMENT THROUGHOUT THE MUNICIPALITY
  • ·        The Public Works Department has been working 7 days a week to open ditches and prepare for the flood
  • ·        Road closures have begun – The RM office will post updates as they become known
  • ·        Sand and sand bags are available at the RM shop and the old Letellier Fire Hall
  • ·        The Plum River is flowing very quickly and the Red River is starting to melt – PLEASE BE CAREFUL AROUND ALL WATERWAYS – THIN ICE AND FLOWING WATER ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS RIGHT NOW

Sandbags will be available starting Monday, March 25 at the RM Shop in St. Jean during regular shop hours. We are working on having them available in the evenings and will let you know when this starts.

Residents will be able to fill and take 25 bags at a time on a 1st come 1stserve basis.

If you require sand and bags for 325 sandbags or more please call the office at 204-737-2271 or Chad at 1-204-384-7754 to arrange delivery.
