Voting and Elections
This page provides a simple overview of municipal elections in the RM of Montcalm : Who can vote, how to vote, and where to find official resources. When an election is called, key dates and documents will appear here.
The next General Municipal Election will be held on October 28th,2026.
Who Can Vote?
- Canadian citizen, at least 18 years of age on election day
- Residents of the RM of Montcalm, or owner/tenant of property in the municipality for at least six months prior to election day
- On the voters list (or prepared to take an oath and show required ID at the voting place)
How to Vote?
- Election Day Voting: Polling location and hours will be posted here when confirmed.
- Advance Voting: Dates/locations will be added if applicable.
- Voter ID: Please bring acceptable identification showing your name and current address.
Key Dates:
- Nomination Period: September 16-22
- Advance voting: Ends October 25
- Election day: October 28
- Unofficial Results posted: October 28
- Official results certified: October 29
For Candidates:
- Nomination forms and information packages will be available through the CAO.
- Submit completed nomination papers to the Senior Election Official (SEO) during the nomination period.
- Campaign rules, spending limits, and signage guidelines are set by legislation and Town by-laws.

If you're temporarily absent from the RM of Montcalm (extended vacation, studying, etc.) and haven't established permanent residency elsewhere or been added to another municipality's voting list, you are still eligible to vote in the Montcalm.
