St. Jean Baptiste is a Local Urban District located within the Rural Municipality of Montcalm in the Pembina Valley region of southern Manitoba. Situated along Highway 75, the community lies approximately 60 km south of Winnipeg and serves as one of the RM’s key settlement centres alongside Letellier and St. Joseph. It is an important service hub for surrounding rural residents and contributes to the broader agricultural and community life of the region.

The community is supported by a range of recreation and community facilities managed through the Saint Jean Parks and Recreation. These include the St. Jean Arena, Saint Jean Centennial Hall, Club Chez Nous, and the St. Jean Campground, which provide spaces for sport, gatherings, events, and seasonal activities for residents and visitors.

The area also features parks and open spaces that support both structured and informal recreation opportunities throughout the year.

One of the community’s most well-known events is the annual St. Jean ATV/UTV Derby, held each September. This major fundraising event attracts thousands of participants and visitors, significantly increasing the community’s population for the weekend. The derby has become a signature event for St. Jean Baptiste, raising funds that support local organizations, recreation facilities, and community initiatives.
